Required Certifications And Licenses
The registered nurse provides nursing care in the health care system within the scope of practice defined by the Nurse Practice Act and regulatory standards. The registered nurse assures safety in practice by maintaining a realization of own individual level of knowledge and experience and assumes responsibility for advancing knowledge of self and others of the patient care team by communication with and utilizing resource persons and programs available. Responsible for supervising and directing the delegation of tasks to appropriate team members and collaborates with other patient care providers. Responsible for consistently setting and evaluating priorities through appropriate interventions with measurable outcomes toward improvement; utilizes the nursing process to integrate all aspects of the provision of care and individualizes the plan of care to address a specific patients needs.
Maintains the standards of nursing care which are evidence based and outcome driven and implements the policies and procedures of the hospital and Nursing Department, and are based on ethical principles which adhere to the ANA code of Ethics. Utilizes the nursing process with a multidisciplinary approach in the delivery of patient care. Performs assessment and reassessment of patients according to applicable department standards and identified codes. Initiates/develops care plans and discharge plans in accordance with department standards and using appropriate tools, e, patient care pathways. Triage patients and alert medical providers of any conditions that may need immediate attention, referral for emergency care and/or inpatient admission. Sets goals and formulates appropriate multidisciplinary interventions to meet these goals. Performs IM injections on Pediatric patients. Performs interventions in accordance with applicable policy and procedure, safety guidelines and infection- control principles. Administer medications as ordered, documenting as per protocol, including evidence of sites, adverse reactions and side effects. Maintains proper medication administration documentation including but not limited to the patient s medical records, declining inventory log, monthly inventory records, medication orders and returns. Prepare and review patient s charts for completeness, obtaining current laboratory reports, and/or test results for review by providers. Provide initial review of all incoming laboratory and tests results, alerting clinicians of critically labeled abnormalities as per policy. Delegates and prioritizes work assignments according to the individual associate s competence and patient care needs. Performs evalt care according to applicable department standards and utilizing designate tools/systems. Bases evaluation on patient s response to interventions, which include, but are not limited to, medications, treatments and education. Provides patient/family education according to the plan of care. Documents care/patient education to standards, utilizing designated tools, forms and systems. Collects information from supportive healthcare members to assist in evaluation process. Communicates essential patient care information within appropriate time frames. Maintain effective communication with allied health services both in hospital and within the community to maximize care and clinical outcomes.
Coordinate activities of ancillary personnel to complement patient needs and expedite standards of care. This includes but not limited to pre-authorizations for medications, procedures, etc, referrals, reports, amongst others. Integrates psychosocial, physical, nutritional and rehabilitation needs of the patient in patient care and discharge planning which evidence cultural awareness. Maintain current knowledge about medical aspects of all our specialties at the location. Specialties are subject to change. Assist with all specialties in clinic. Rotate between specialties as needed. Attends in-services programs and continuing education to increase knowledge base. Participates and participates in clinical and Departmental meetings and trainings as necessary and appropriate. Actively participates in a Nursing council within the Nursing Department in the organization. Complies with unit and departmental scheduling guidelines. Maintains required organizational and departmental specific competencies. Demonstrates flexibilities to meet staffing needs of department/organization. Maintains all areas and equipment in safe conditions. Reports safety, equipment and infection control hazards to the RN Manager. Ensures compliance with VFC standards/processes. Serves as backup coordinator for NJIIS/VFC. Performs other duties as assigned.

Required Certifications And Licenses
- Minimum (1) one year of recent/current acute care hospital experience required
- Active NJ RN License or Multistate RN License with NJ Endorsement
- BLS certification through American Heart Association
- Experience and knowledge of primary/ambulatory care is preferred
- Experience working with urban populations of multiple ethnic and cultural backgrounds
- Graduate from an accredited NLN School of Nursing
- Expected to obtain certification in ambulatory care nursing when eligible
