Education Requirements

• Required: Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN)
• Acceptable: Associate degree in Nursing only if the RN has relevant experience or is actively enrolled in a BSN program

Licensure and Certification

Required:

• Active NYS RN License
• BLS, ACLS, NRP Certifications (AHA)
• Preferred: EPIC charting experience

️ Required Skills & Experience

• Minimum:
• 2 years of total RN experience
• 2 years of Mother/Baby (postpartum/antepartum) nursing experience
• 1 year of travel RN experience (waived for per diem roles)
• Newborn nursery experience
• Hands-on experience with magnesium sulfate (must be clearly listed on resume)
• Comfortable with true couplet care (caring for both newborn and mother)

Core Duties

• Deliver safe, competent nursing care using evidence-based practices
• Perform newborn assessments, couplet care, and medication administration (including magnesium sulfate protocols)
• Provide education and discharge planning for new mothers
• Coordinate with interdisciplinary team and support patient-centered care
• Execute admission, bedside shift report, and hourly rounding
• Participate in quality/safety initiatives, chart accurately in EPIC
• Support throughput, resource management, and unit operations
• Mentor peers and engage in shared governance and professional development
