Mary has over 38 years experience in nursing, the past 31 years in the perioperative setting. She collaborated with AORN to develop an online version of the CNOR Certification Prep course and has been presenting CNOR preparation courses for 22 years.

Program Schedule
Day 1 Saturday
7:30 am ---------------- Registration 8:00 am- 4:00 pm ---------- Lecture

Day 2 Sunday

8:00 am – 3:30pm ---------- Lecture

This two-day course is designed to prepare perioperative nurses to take the CNOR exam and to demonstrate clinical competence and knowledge of practice standards.
This course is also designed to review current and new OR practices to maintain CNOR certification. This consists of lecture, handout, and practice questions.

Objectives:
1. Apply test-taking strategies in development of a study plan for the CNOR exam.
2. Discuss measures the perioperative nurse carries out in preparing and maintaining the sterile field.
3. Describe how the perioperative nurse maintains a safe surgical environment.
4.
This activity has been submitted to the AORN, Inc. for approval to award 12.5 contact hours. The AORN, Inc. is accredited as an approver of continuing nursing education by the ANCC Commission on Accreditation. Activities that are approved by AORN are recognized as continuing education for registered nurses. This recognition does not imply that AORN or the ANCC Commission on Accreditation approves or endorses any product included in the presentation.


Identify the perioperative nurse’s role in the administration of safe patient anesthesia.
5. Discuss the perioperative nurse’s role in caring for patients with perioperative complications.
6. Describe perioperative care of the patient with life threatening medical conditions.
7. Identify the perioperative nurse’s role as a patient advocate.
